How it began
One boat, one license, and a knack for finding fish.
Bowline Charters Co. began in 2011 when Capt. Dave Marsh — a Portland kid who'd been fishing the bay since he could hold a rod — turned a single 24-foot boat and a USCG license into a charter business.
Word got around: he put people on fish, he ran a safe boat, and he was good company doing it. Fourteen seasons later we run a small fleet out of Long Wharf with a handful of licensed captains, but the idea hasn't changed. We know Casco Bay — its islands, its ledges, its lighthouses, and its moods — and there's nothing we'd rather do than share it.
